Get more information below on why I am the best candidate for the At Large A Board Seat
With over five decades of connection to Lake Arrowhead and a career defined by public service and leadership, Gary brings extensive experience to the ALA board. As a former ALA President for four years and six-year veteran of the Shoreline and Safety Committees, he has deep insight into the organization's challenges and opportunities. A Lake Arrowhead native who attended Mary Putnam Henck Intermediate and Rim of the World High School, Gary's roots run deep in this community.
Former police officer and ALA President, with strong relationships with local elected officials
Former City Council member and Mayor of Glendora, current School Board President
Senior Executive VP for environmental company, professor at Azusa Pacific and Los Angeles Pacific Universities
Together, we can preserve our lake's natural beauty while building a stronger, more connected community for all residents.
He works for one of the largest waste and recycling companies in the region as senior executive vice president. He regularly meets with San Bernardino county board offices and staff on environmental and contractual issues.
As the past president of ALA, Gary knows our Lake and understands the valve issue and what the State of CA is requiring. ALA's 5500 members should not do this alone, but we are. This is a big mistake.
Gary will fight for you so we get all parties to the table to pay for this valve project. He had a huge meeting at the LACSD building about 6 months ago, bringing in all the experts who said ALA should not do this alone. Gary is the only one with the skills, contacts and know-how to make sure you don't get stuck with a $100 million to $300 million dollar bill!
Gary Clifford is committed to working with ALA managers, staff, and LACSD to address the PFAS issue in Lake Arrowhead. He will do everything possible to ensure safer water for our community while maintaining and enhancing recreational opportunities for all ALA members.
Gary knows how to run a business. ALA needs to be run like a business. Gary knows how to make friends and get stuff done. Staff loves him and he will get along great with Mike Pate, ALA General Manager.
He will work to be a more friendly ALA and won't seek out and punish members for speaking their minds. He will cut the legal spending on member disputes and make ALA more friendly and nice.
Gary will work to protect this lake against vandals and ensure our community remains safe for families and visitors.
New and improved cameras are coming online all the time. Gary will work with staff to make sure Lake Arrowhead stays safe and family friendly through enhanced security measures and community cooperation.
Gary will help maintain what we have and plan for the future to fix what is needed.
Gary is approachable and will answer all of your questions. He will work with the board to eliminate the $200 fee for member to member communication which caused huge legal fees.
He will put in some common sense rules that all will follow to make sure ALA is a friendly place to communicate among members.
